Bolsena, Anno Domini 1263. The long pilgrimage of Peter of Prague comes to an end on the shores of Lake Bolsena, where extraordinary events took place in the life of the young martyr named Christina.
Born of a noble family, Saint Christina grew up in a comfortable, wealthy home, yet gave up all her riches for her Christian faith and suffered the most atrocious tortures rather than deny Christ. Deeply moved by the courage and strength of faith shown by this young girl, Peter prayed with all his might for a message that could rid him of any doubt. His prayers were answered when he received an unmistakable sign of the presence of Jesus in the Holy Communion: the consecrated host began to bleed. The miracle of this Holy Communion marked the beginning of the festivities for Corpus Domini.
